A Boston based hotel chain opened its doors last week to victims or a tragic fire that left 11 families homeless.

Smartmove Hotels, established in the town in 2016, took the decision on Tuesday evening to offer free emergency accommodation to victims of a devastating fire that took hold of a block of flats in Haven Village.

“We sympathise with all the families who are impacted by this tragic event.

As an established business, respected throughout the community, it’s in our hearts to ensure that our neighbours and communities are safe, and the victims of this fire had a roof above their heads and a bed to sleep in until appropriate action could be taken the following morning.

The doors to our flagship hotel, The Quayside, remained open throughout the duration of the night, allowing the emergency service personnel to have access to essential facilities including toilets, showers and ice cold water, much needed on the hottest day of the year on record.”
