A once popular hotel has undergone an extensive refurbishment and considerable investment following a take-over by a local hotel chain.
The New England Hotel, located on Wide Bargate in Boston, has recently been acquired by the Boston based Smartmove Hotel Group, and undergone a £1m refurbishment.
With a brand new interior and exterior, the centrally located hotel, which dates back to the 17th century, also features a tasteful, bollywood themed and royal inspired Indian restaurant, owned by local businessman, Mohammed Alexander.
Refurbishment of the property commenced earlier in the year, following the acquisition, which completed just before the lockdown period began, allowing local property investor Alistair Arundell to develop plans for the historic building.
Whilst retaining the periodic look to the building, a modern facia has been fitted and new colour schemes to match the local area, accompanied by an ongoing refurbishment and regeneration plan for all 28 bedrooms of the property.
The Indian restaurant, named Bombay Club, sits in the downstairs of the property in the 65-seater restaurant and bar.
“We’re delighted to have had the opportunity to take over The New England Hotel. This pride of Boston has been sat for a multitude of years, and an urgent facelift was required to further aid the property in restoring its popularity within the local community. We are honoured to welcome Mo, his family and dedicated team of staff to the property, and hope to see a many join them as they seek to develop their reputation to become Boston’s best Indian.”
